Navigating Entry into Winchester College

Winchester College is a boarding school for boys located in Winchester, Hampshire. The college is one of the oldest in the UK and follows tradition. However, the 13+ Entry Exam has recently been altered to focus more on potential rather than solely on academic achievement.

It is recommended to attend one of the Open Days before applying, to provide both parents and students with the opportunity to meet teachers and ask questions to current students.

The application for the 13+ Entry exam is a non-refundable fee of £375. This registration form can be requested from the school and needs to be completed before the closing date, typically in July.

Once registered, students are requested to take the ISEB Common Pretest at their current school during October/November. If successful, they will be invited to an interview in January or March.

This Pretest is used to assess students in areas and in a way that will reflect their future potential. This test covers four main areas: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English, and math.

Practice Tests and Video Courses are available online for this common entrance exam and are a good source for revision.
