Much like other schools, Hampton school is changing their admissions process for Year 7 Entry. The online ISEB Common Pretest is replacing the Reasoning, Maths and English written papers due to the pandemic. Students hoping to Hampton School are required to complete the exam no later than December 5th at their current school. If there are circumstances in which completion of the exam is not possible at the child’s school, it can be done at Hampton School on November 28th or December 5th.

The ISEB Pretest

This examination covers skills in English, math, verbal and non-verbal reasoning. It typically lasts a total of 2.5 hours, and distributes across the following subjects.

• English (25 min): comprehension, sentence completion, spelling and punctuation

• Maths (50 min): mathematical ability across the curriculum – arithmetic and problem-solving

• Verbal Reasoning (~36 min): problem-solving using words

• Non-Verbal Reasoning (~32 min): thinking with shapes, space, diagrams and pictures
